1. Who I am

This website and my services are run by Christine Elizabeth, trading as Feng Shui – Life, Styled ("I", "me", "my"). I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy, which means I decide how and why it is used.

2. What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information I collect when you visit fengshuilifestyled.com, join my mailing list, book a call, buy a service, or work with me as a client. It also explains how I use it, who helps me look after it, how long I keep it, and the rights you have.

3. The information I collect

Information you give me directly

When you get in touch, book, buy, or work with me, I may collect your name, email address, phone number, postal address, and any messages you send me.

When you book a Property, Home, or Business Assessment (Property Staging Report, Align or Immerse), I may also collect information about your home or workspace, such as floor plans, photographs, compass directions, room layouts and the date you moved in, along with your date of birth and those of your household (used for feng shui calculations), and the intentions and goals you'd like your space to support.

Information you choose to share about your wellbeing

Sometimes clients choose to share details about their health or wellbeing. This is classed as special category data under data protection law. I will only use it with your explicit consent, and only to tailor your recommendations. You never need to share it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.

Payment information

Online payments are processed securely by Stripe. I never see or store your full card details. I receive confirmation of payment, your name, email address and the amount paid.

Information collected automatically

When you visit my website, cookies and similar technologies collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you visit and how long you stay. Non-essential cookies are only set if you agree to them through the cookie banner. See section 12.

Video calls

Calls take place on online video platforms. I will only record a call with your agreement, and I'll always ask first.

4. Why I use your information and my lawful basis

The law requires me to have a valid reason (a "lawful basis") for using your information. Here is how that applies:

To deliver the services you've purchased, including preparing your report and supporting documentation, calls and email support, I rely on contract.

To respond to enquiries, manage bookings, keep business records, improve my website and services, and keep my business secure, I rely on my legitimate interests, balanced carefully against your rights.

To send you my newsletter and marketing emails, set non-essential cookies, and use any health or wellbeing information you share, I rely on your consent.

To keep financial and tax records as required by HMRC, I rely on legal obligation.

5. My newsletter and marketing emails

If you join my mailing list, I'll send you my newsletter and occasional emails about my services, events and offers. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. If you unsubscribe, I keep your email address on a suppression list solely to make sure you aren't contacted again.

6. How I use artificial intelligence (AI)

I use AI tools to support aspects of my work, such as drafting, organising information, research and preparing materials.

Every recommendation, report and remedy you receive is reviewed and approved by me, and my expertise and judgement always lead. I keep personal information shared with AI tools to a minimum, use settings that prevent it being used to train AI models, and never use AI to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

If you interact directly with an AI system on my behalf, or receive content that has been substantially generated by AI, I will make that clear to you.

If you'd prefer AI tools not to be used with your information, just let me know and I'll honour that.

7. Information sharing and disclosure

Feng Shui – Life, Styled is a global service, and I work with trusted service providers around the world who help me run my business, such as website, email, booking, payment, client management, design, document, video call and AI platforms. All are bound by appropriate confidentiality and data protection agreements, and process your information only for the purposes described in this policy.

Your personal information is never sold, and is never shared without your permission except under the conditions explained below.

I may share your personal information with other companies or people in the following circumstances:

• When I have your consent to share your information

• If sharing your information is necessary to provide a product or service you have requested

• If you attend a webinar, roundtable or other event where the presenter or host has a right to know who they are addressing

• With my accountant or professional advisers

• If required to do so by law, to enforce my Terms and Conditions, or in urgent circumstances, to protect personal safety, the public or my website

8. International transfers

Your information may be stored and processed in the UK or in other countries where my service providers are located, mainly the United States. Where this happens, your information is protected by recognised safeguards, such as the UK–US Data Bridge, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. How long I keep your information

Enquiries that don't lead to a booking: up to 12 months.
Client records, including reports and correspondence: 6 years after our work ends, to meet tax and legal requirements. Photographs, floor plans and wellbeing information may be deleted sooner on request once your service is complete.
Financial records and invoices: 6 years, as required by HMRC.
Mailing list: until you unsubscribe (with a suppression record kept as explained above).
Call recordings: deleted within 30 days unless you ask me to keep them longer.
AI conversations containing client information: deleted once your work is complete.

10. How I keep your information safe

I take care to protect your personal information using secure, reputable platforms with encryption, two-factor authentication and strong passwords, with access limited to me and the service providers described above. If a data breach ever occurred that put your rights at risk, I would notify you and the ICO as the law requires.

As no transmission over the internet is ever completely secure, I'd also encourage you to take care when sharing personal information online, such as using strong, unique passwords.

11. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information I hold about you

• Ask me to correct anything inaccurate or incomplete

• Ask me to delete your information

• Ask me to restrict how I use it

• Object to my use of it, including for marketing

• Receive your information in a portable format

• Withdraw your consent at any time

• Not be subject to decisions made solely by automated means that significantly affect you

12. Cookies Notice

What cookies are

My website uses cookies: small files of letters and numbers placed on your device, if you agree, to help the site provide a better experience. A cookie can contain information such as a unique identifier that helps the site recognise your device and remember the pages you've visited. Cookies cannot read data from your hard drive or read cookie files created by other sites.

How I use cookies

I use cookies to:

• Keep the website working properly and securely

• Remember your preferences and settings

• Store information from parts of the site, such as your shopping basket

• Understand how visitors use the site, so I can improve it

• Show you marketing I think you may be interested in

Your choices

When you first visit my website, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. Essential cookies are always on, as the site can't work without them. You can change your choices at any time through the banner or your browser settings. Rejecting non-essential cookies won't affect your ability to use the site, although blocking essential cookies through your browser may stop some parts from working.

Cookies may be linked to information such as your IP address, session details and browsing activity. Non-essential cookies expire within a reasonable period.

Types of cookies used

Strictly necessary cookies: these let you use the website and its features, such as checkout and password-protected content. They can't be switched off.

Functional cookies: these remember your preferences and settings, such as whether you've visited before, so you don't see the same pop-up twice.

Performance and analytics cookies: these help me understand how visitors use the site and make sure it's working properly. I use Squarespace Analytics / Google Analytics for this.

Advertising cookies: these track your activity so you can be shown relevant advertising on other sites, such as social media.

Session and persistent cookies: session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period, to remember your preferences for next time.

13. Children

My services are designed for adults. I don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Where a home audit involves family members, including children (for example, dates of birth for feng shui calculations), this is provided by a parent or guardian and used only to prepare your report.

14. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please contact me first so I can put it right. I will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond as quickly as I can.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113). If you live in the EU, you can contact the data protection authority in your country.

I review this policy regularly and will update it when my services or the law change. The latest version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated.
